Everything You Need to Know
Will Girls Get IT be hosting spring classes?
Yes, Girls Get IT is thrilled to be hosting camp as an after school activity for spring 2021. The program will take the form of weekly Wednesday lessons over the course of 6 weeks. The program runs from March 3- April 7. Lessons run from 4:00-5:45pm PST. The cost per camper is $475.
Can I sign up for Girls Get IT spring classes if I already participated in a Girls Get IT summer program?
Absolutely! Return campers are encouraged and welcomed. Feel free to sign up again, and bring a new friend with you as well! We’ll have a 3:1 student to teacher ratio with lots of opportunities for breakout rooms where return campers can dive into more advanced coding concepts and other curricular add ons.
How is Girls Get IT responding to COVID-19?
Angelica and Georgia, the Girls Get IT founders, are committed to still running Girls Get IT as an after school activity over the fall 2020 semester. In light of current events, however, Girls Get IT will now be taking place in our virtual classroom via Zoom. See our A Typical Day page for more information on how we plan to run GGI.
Additionally, if your family has been affected by COVID-19 or are a healthcare worker, then you may be eligible for a Girls Get IT scholarship. Email girlsgetit.co@gmail.com for more details!
Overall, we know these circumstances are not ideal, but technology remains a critical tool for how we are staying connected - all the more reason to empower your kiddo with a coding education! We are still very much looking forward to the fall, and we thank you for your understanding as we've made this shift to digital learning to ensure the safety of our teaching staff and students.
When is Girls Get IT?

Who can participate in Girls Get IT?
Female or non binary identifying students between the ages of 7-12 years old.
No experience needed. All levels welcome. And no need to bring a laptop.
We strive to include people in our program from all different backgrounds. So portions of tuition costs go directly back into funding scholarships for underrepresented girls. To inquire about a scholarship, contact girlsgetit.co@gmail.com.
Where is camp located each day?
Camp will now be VIRTUAL in light of COVID-19 stay at home restrictions. Despite these restrictions, we are committed to providing a safe experience for all our students. Zoom instructions will be sent out upon registration.

*Camp originally was planned to be held at a WeWork in the Pacific Design Center Green building in West Hollywood. WeWork was our official location sponsor.
How credible are your instructors?
Angelica and Georgia are the founders and head instructors at Girls Get IT. Between the two of them, they have 10+ years of computer science experience, first at Brentwood School (here in LA) and then at the University of Southern California and Harvard University respectively.
Additionally, as current college students, Angelica and Georgia uniquely serve as fun and relatable mentors for their students. High school student volunteers also help staff each camp session (under the founders' supervision). So we keep our teacher to student ratio around 1:4.
Finally, this is the fifth time that Girls Get IT is running. And the camp’s curriculum, designed by Angelica and Georgia, has won numerous awards from the National Center for Women in Information Technology.
Is Girls Get IT affiliated with any school or organization?
Girls Get IT is an independent, female-founded business with no third party affiliations. But the founders are mentored by an all-star advisory board, including elementary school teachers, investors, marketing executives, technologists, and more.
What was the inspiration for the name Girls Get IT?
The IT in Girls Get IT stands for information technology. We love our name because we think that it's short, sweet, and to the point. After all, girls really do just get it :).
Are there scholarships available?
Yes! We aim to make Girls Get IT accessible to as many girls as possible.
Contact girlsgetit.co@gmail.com for more information.
What else will my child be doing besides coding?
While the primary objective of our program is to educate students on computer science, Girls Get IT is also a classroom for mentorship, empowerment, and fun.
We will be teaching the girls about the importance of internet safety, privacy, and online kindness. We will also be teaching the girls about gender equity, feminism, racial equity, and future paths they can take to advance their education in computer science fields (both in school and in the workforce). Finally, we will be breaking up lessons with fun team building activities, such as bracelet making and mindfulness training.
